The Darklights by Michaelbrent Collings

This novel moved a little slower than I normally care for, and slower than the last book I read by Michaelbrent Collings; The Longest Con. However, in saying that, I do love Collings’ first person, and it was the interest I developed early in the novel of the character (Gerrold) that kept me going.

Another thing that kept me reading was his near flawless transition through “then” and “now” chapters. I do love when authors step away from traditional storytelling to lay out their stories for us.

I loved the world; the sci-fi, setting Collings leads the reader through is indeed well built and engaging. Speaking of engaging, Gerrold’s tale is full of love, hate, betrayal, and revenge. There are many twists and turn, a thing I didn’t think was possible, became possible, and what I thought was really going on . . . well, let’s just say I couldn’t have been further from the ending. A solid and fitting resolution, I assure you.

The Darklights is another book by this author that I enjoyed and reminds me that I need to read more of his work.

FROM INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER MICHAELBRENT COLLINGS comes a new venture into deepest space and darkest fear…

When the Company has a problem – a factory gone under, books that need auditing, or a rebellious planet to be destroyed – I’m there, and I take care of it.

I’m the most successful FixIt in Company history, and I have never failed to punch a ticket.

TF-653 is different.

The staff and crew of a terraforming installation on a planet so strange it cannot be described have disappeared. It’s my job to get there, to find the problem, and to stop it.

Or kill it.

But some things can’t be killed. Because some things are already dead.

And some things… are even worse. Because some things can only be seen in THE DARKLIGHTS.

I received a copy via the author in exchange for an honest review.
