Let me begin by saying that while I have known about the comic series for a long time, I have not read any prior Deadworld to compare this too. I am familiar with the ongoing Deadworld comic book series. A Tribute Anthology to Deadworld and Comic Publisher Gary Reed by Lori Perkins is the very first anything I’ve ever read for Deadworld.
I love zombies. That was why I applied to read and review this anthology. I’m very happy that I did.
There aren’t nearly enough stories in this. All the short stories in this anthology were freaking awesome. I hated that every single one of them came to an end. There wasn’t one that I didn’t enjoy. They are all very well written and executed. The Girl by Jennifer Williams and Home on the Range by Ken Haigh were my favorites.
Upon reading the end of the last short story, I knew immediately what I had to do – hunt them all down and read them. Needless to say, my damn to be read pile has become seriously heavier because I learned from the editor, Lori Perkins’ note, that the series has been around since the late 80’s.
I hope my husband’s credit card is ready for this bill. If not and this anthology is any indication as to how awesome this comic series is. . . the groveling for forgiveness will be well worth it.
