This Is Where We Go When We Die by Christopher Ritchie

This Is Where We Go To Die is not only well-written, but it’s a quick and entertaining read. You get the story as Norton Brand (the main character) records his case findings in his journal. I normally don’t read stories, short or not, like that, but this short has changed my mind.

Norton is funny, witty, and very personable. He had me chuckling all the time despite this short story genre is set as a horror/thriller. In saying that, I’m not the best judge of horror, thriller or gore. It takes a lot to scare and gross me out. After all, one of my favorite gore movies is Texas Chainsaw Massacre. But I can see how some would find the contents of this book gross and horrifying. Norton himself does.

I will say that it is dark and twisted.

I’m looking forward to episode 2 of Norton’s hellish adventure.

Horror, Thriller, Mystery

1879, South London: Private detective Norton Brand accepts a case from a housewife to find out what her husband is doing on Sunday nights. Drawing him into a ghastly mystery involving ritual murder and a dangerous prostitution racket, he enters a strange realm which damages him physically and psychologically. Norton goes in pursuit of answers and makes a startling discovery of a world, and understanding, far beyond his own. This gripping new series from award-winning horror writer Christopher Ritchie will bend your mind and turn your stomach – and you won’t put it down until the end.
